Our story
We built the tool we couldn't find.
MarginTruck started with a simple frustration: the software that solves the food-cost problem was built for restaurant groups, not for the operator running one truck or two locations.
The problem is real and it's everywhere.
Independent restaurant operators lose margin every week to the same three things: supplier price creep they don't catch until the end of the month, recipe costs that haven't been updated since the last price increase, and invoices that sit in a pile until someone has time to enter them. The tools that fix this — xtraChef, MarginEdge, Compeat — are excellent. They're also priced and structured for multi-unit operators with back-office staff. A food truck owner or a single-location chef doesn't have a controller. They have a phone and a stack of paper invoices.
So we built the 20% that moves the needle.
MarginTruck doesn't try to be a full restaurant ERP. It does the things that actually change your food cost: reads every invoice the day it arrives, maps line items to your item library, updates your recipe costs automatically, and queues the bill for payment. Connect your POS and you get true cost of goods — not a quarterly estimate, but a number that updates every time a new invoice comes in. That's the loop that matters. Everything else is noise until you have that.
Priced for one location, not a chain.
We set the price at $249 per location per month because that's the number a single-unit operator can carry without it being a line item they debate every quarter. Month to month, no setup fee, no per-seat charge. AI invoice reading is billed as pass-through usage at our cost — we don't mark it up. Your data exports to CSV any time. We're not trying to lock you in; we're trying to earn the renewal.
The company behind it
RBM Business Holdings
MarginTruck is a product of RBM Business Holdings Inc. — a Houston-based firm that doesn't just build software, it runs businesses. RBM is a true all-in-one operation: accounting and tax preparation, management consulting, Managed IT services, and full-stack software and app development all live under one roof. That breadth isn't accidental. It means the people who built MarginTruck have sat across the table from operators, reviewed their books, untangled their technology, and rebuilt their processes from the ground up. We don't theorize about small-business back-office pain — we've lived it with our clients for years. MarginTruck is what happens when that experience meets a problem worth solving.
How we work
A few things we believe.
Operators are busy. Software should be fast.
If it takes more than 30 seconds to log an invoice, it won't get logged. Every workflow in MarginTruck is designed around the reality that you're doing this between service, not at a desk.
Your data is yours.
CSV export is always available, no questions asked. We don't hold your item library or invoice history hostage to a subscription. If you leave, you take your data with you.
Pricing should be honest.
One price, one location, no per-seat fees, no surprise overages. AI usage is billed at cost and itemized. We'd rather you know exactly what you're paying than discover a line item you didn't expect.
We build for the operator, not the investor deck.
MarginTruck doesn't have a feature roadmap driven by what looks good in a pitch. It has a roadmap driven by what the operators using it tell us they need next.
